Beschrijving: Famed radio station RIAS (Radio In the American Sector), which brought news and entertainment to the people of Berlin and Communist East Germany, is featured in this report. In the western sectors of the city reconstruction is proceeding apace, thanks to Marshall Aid. Leading European artists entertain at a concert. Marshall Plan Administrator Paul Hoffman opens the American exhibit at the new West Berlin Industries Fair. © 2002 Sandra Schulberg
The film shows construction, opening and course of the German industrial fair in Berlin 1950, which is presented as a direct result of the hard work of the West Berliners, the international help of the Marshall plan and also as a demonstration of the free world face to face with totalitarian communism. It tends to build up a contrast between the work and diligence of the West Berliners and the propaganda and "political somersaults" in the East. In addition to the opening speeches by German and American politicians and a general tour of the fair, various concerts by international artists are shown in length.
